The role of PVC products for energy efficient modernisation programmes in buildings

Description: This project was rolled out on the as part of the Bottrop “InnovationCity Project”. The project's objective is to make use of PVC product solutions in the building sector for energy efficient and sustainable renovation programmes in a prominent project and to specify PVC products on the “positive list” for public procurement.


  • Introduction meeting / workshop involving the city of Bottrop, the “Innovation City” project team, Ruhr University, AGPU, PVC window system suppliers (EPPA members). The target was the positive positioning of PVC products in the different areas of buildings.
  • Kick-off meeting, now also together with certified window assembling companies, in order to develop a selected and concrete renovation program.
  • Evaluation and documentation of the effects after project realisation as the basis of further communication and realisation programmes in other cities (roll out).
The project had highly reputed partners including the European Union.

The “Blueprint” for Bottrop’s redevelopment focuses on energy efficiency and renewables in both commercial and residential areas, with measures for environmentally friendly mobility and adaptation of urban space for increased quality of life for its residents.
