The VinylPlus Sustainability Forum 2019

The VinylPlus Sustainability Forum is an annual event, jointly organised by ECVM and VinylPlus, to engage in an open and constructive dialogue on sustainability with a wide range of industry and external stakeholders.

This coming year, the VSF will be held on the 9th and 10th of May, in Prague, Czech Republic. It will be an exciting opportunity to network and exchange on today's crucial topics and trends.

Last year, the VSF 2018 attracted a variety of interesting keynote speakers, who spoke in accordance to the theme, "Meeting Societal Needs." In attendance were over 140 stakeholders from 30 different countries, representing the European Commission, the European Parliament, the United Nations, consumer organisations, academia, specifiers, designers, architects, recyclers and the PVC value chain.

Among them, Anders Wijkman, Co-president of the global think tank 'Club of Rome', gave a fascinating speech addressing the aligning of industry with circular economy principles, and how industry can respond to increasing environmental pressures. Moreover, Frans Alferink, Product Manager Civils at Wavin T&I, provided true insight into PVC's role in supplying quality water piping.

Also to speak at VSF 2018 was Nilgün Tas, Chief and Deputy Director of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Industrial Resource Efficiency Division. In an engaging delivery, Nilgün Tas suggested new collaborative policy partnerships and the global sharing of sustainability best practices as ways to address the Sustainable Development Goals.

VSF 2018 also included a visit to Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, that provided a spectacular location for Lars Meess-Olsohn's concluding speech concerning PVC’s architectural applications in sports facilities. The outing was followed by the evening banquet, which allowed for ample opportunities to network and to disucss the ideas shared throughout the Forum.

You can expect a matching quality of interactive speeches and dynamic discussions at VSF 2019. The Forum will also be an opportunity to hear about the VinylPlus Product Label, as VSF 2018 saw companies Epwin Window Systems, Rehau, Schüco and Veka presented with trophies for being awarded the certification earlier that year. Also on the agenda will be VinylPlus' future projects and commitments, promising for an insightful and exciting event.

Save the date and join us for this unique event that brings together an inspiring diversity of participants, so as to share with you the progress industry has made towards a sustainable future.
